Leed for Homes Providership
LEED for Homes is a voluntary third-party certification system that verifies the design and construction of high-performance green homes.
Homebuilders using LEED are able to showcase their leadership in energy and environmental design and construction through LEED’s nationally recognized brand. Owners of LEED certified homes can rest assured that their property has been third-party inspected, performance-tested and certified as a green home which will perform better than a conventionally built home.

LEED for Homes providers like the Jordan Institute are organizations selected by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) to support local builders in the following capacities:
- Help register their projects with LEED for Homes.
- Perform the preliminary review of a project’s LEED documentation.
- Submit documentation to USGBC for certification.
- Complete required onsite inspections and coordinate HERS ratings for home energy performance.
- Train, coordinate, and oversee green raters and builder support staff.
LEED for Homes addresses the whole home through eight credit categories:
- Innovation & Design
- Location & Linkage
- Sustainable Sites
- Water Efficiency
- Energy & Atmosphere
- Materials & Resources
- Indoor Environmental Quality
- Awareness & Education
Projects must meet prerequisites and minimum point thresholds in each category and earn additional points through optional measures. The final project rating – Certified, Silver, Gold or Platinum – is based on the number of points acquired.
